About Linen
Linen is made from Flax and is one of the worlds most sustainable fabrics. The process of growing flax is highly ecological. It's cultivation requires no irrigation and very few chemicals. It has a short growing cycle (100 days) and the entire plant is used - fibers, seed and oil.
During the entire industrial process, the impact on the environment is minimal. Even in the bleaching and dyeing processes, the methods used by Libeco-Lagae are perfectly controlled. The water used in the production comes from the Lys River rather than the water table. After use, the water is treated in a biological water treatment plant which renders it cleaner than it was before use.
Libeco-Lagae is very aware of the need to protect the environment and is constantly investing in more efficient material and work methods in order to reduce water and energy needs.
